Released on December 1, 1996, this 2-CD compilation showcases some of the best tracks from hip-hop and funk/soul artists, including Dr. Dre, Snoop Doggy Dogg, The Lady Of Rage, Ice Cube, Tha Dogg Pound (Dat Nigga Daz & Kurupt), The Dramatics, 2Pac, Dramacydal (The Outlawz), Michel’Le, Digital Underground, J-Flex, Thug Life, Jodeci, Danny Boy, and Scarface. The album features a mix of gangsta rap and contemporary R&B styles, delivering a powerful collection of tracks that encapsulate the essence of 90s West Coast hip-hop.
The album includes iconic songs such as “Nuthin’ But A G Thang” by Dr. Dre, “Gin & Juice” by Snoop Doggy Dogg, “Afro Puffs” by The Lady Of Rage, “Natural Born Killaz” by Dr. Dre & Ice Cube, “Who Am I (What’s My Name?)” by Snoop Doggy Dogg, and “Keep Ya Head Up” by 2Pac, among many others. The compilation also features remixes of popular tracks like “Let Me Ride (Rmx)” by Dr. Dre and “Gin & Juice (Rmx)” by Snoop Doggy Dogg.
The album artwork features illustrations by Ronald “Riskie” Brent and T.J. Johnson, and the executive producer of the project is Suge Knight, the co-founder of Death Row Records. The album was compiled by project coordinator Roy Tesfay and project supervisor Norris Anderson, with art direction by George Pryce and design by Unleashed. The compilation was mastered by Brian “Big Bass” Gardner, ensuring top-quality sound for fans of these legendary artists.
