Description
“Run Brotha Run” is a 1993 maxi-single by Oakland, California rapper Pooh-Man, also known as MC Pooh. Released by Righteous Records and Scarface Records, the album delves into the Gangsta Rap genre, showcasing Pooh-Man’s powerful storytelling and raw, unfiltered lyrics.
The maxi-single features four tracks, including “Run Nigga Run (Street Version),” “Run Brotha Run (Radio Version),” “Menace To Society (Street Version),” and “Run Nigga Run (Instrumental).” Producers Rodney “Blu” Mitchell and Stan “G-Man” Keith collaborate with Pooh-Man to create an impactful and engaging soundscape that showcases his unique style.
Lawrence Lee Thomas, born on January 25, 1969, has been an influential figure in the rap industry since the early 1990s. With several albums released across different labels, including Jive Records, Pooh-Man’s lyrics often focus on topics such as sex, money, and murder. His song “Sex, Money & Murder” even appeared on the soundtrack to the 1992 film Juice.
Thomas has been active in the music industry for decades, with his only charting album, 1992’s Funky as I Wanna Be, peaking at #158 on the Billboard Top 200. Unfortunately, his career was interrupted in 2000 when he pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery and was sentenced to six years in prison.
