Description
“Criminal Intent” is a collaborative album by renowned rappers Spice 1 from Hayward, CA, and Jayo Felony from San Diego, CA. Released on March 23, 2007, under High Octane Entertainment, the album features 13 tracks that showcase the duo’s impressive skills in the gangsta rap genre. However, Jayo Felony ultimately decided against the album’s release, resulting in its removal from stores and making it a rare collector’s item.
The album kicks off with “Hood Wit It,” featuring Booda, setting the tone for the gritty, street-wise themes that permeate the record. Tracks like “Keep It Crackin'” and “Put It Down,” featuring MM Cal and Young Menace, display the rappers’ ability to craft engaging narratives over hard-hitting beats. “What Cha Gon Do Wit It?” and “Muthafuckaz Like These” continue to highlight the duo’s talent for delivering raw, unfiltered lyrics.
“2 Gutta 4 TV” and “Bosses” showcase the rappers’ ambition and desire to rise above their circumstances, while “It Ain’t No Love” and “Gunnin’ Em'” delve into the darker aspects of street life. “The Showdown” and “U Don’t Walk It” demonstrate the rappers’ competitive spirit, and “It’s Crucial” serves as a call to action for those in the game. The album concludes with “U Can’t Rap,” produced by Demon, further cementing the duo’s prowess in the rap scene.
Despite Jayo Felony’s decision to pull the album from stores, “Criminal Intent” remains an impressive collaboration between two of the West Coast’s most talented rappers. For those fortunate enough to have a copy, it stands as a testament to their combined skills and the raw power of their storytelling.
