Description

The Love Never Dies, the third studio album by Los Angeles-based rapper Paperboy, was released on November 23, 2004, under Thump Records. Best known for his 1993 hit single “Ditty,” which reached #10 on the Hot 100 chart, Paperboy, born Mitchell Charles Johnson, made a name for himself with his unique style and G-Funk influenced sound.

This 16-track album features a variety of hip-hop styles, showcasing Paperboy’s versatility and growth as an artist. The album opens with “California,” setting the tone with its West Coast vibe. Notable tracks include “Gangsta In Me,” “I Don’t Know,” and “How High.” The track “Word On Da Streets” features a collaboration with rapper Bad Azz, adding another dimension to the album’s diverse sound.

Production on The Love Never Dies was handled by a range of talented producers, including Big Keys “Dirty Dirty,” Brian G., Chill, Battle Cat, Paperboy himself, Reno Crew, and Rhythm D, who also produced Paperboy’s most successful single, “Ditty.” The variety of producers contributes to the album’s dynamic sound and demonstrates Paperboy’s ability to adapt to different styles.

Though The Love Never Dies did not achieve the same commercial success as his debut album, The Nine Yards, it remains a testament to Paperboy’s continued dedication to his craft and his passion for creating authentic hip-hop music. For fans of Paperboy’s earlier work or those seeking an underrated gem from the early 2000s hip-hop scene, The Love Never Dies is a must-listen.
