“Say Goodbye To A.P.G.” is an EP released by Oakland, California rapper Mello-Mar in 1993. Released under Metro Records on both cassette tape and vinyl, this project showcases the rapper’s Gangsta style and offers a snapshot of the hip-hop scene in the Bay Area during the early ’90s.

The EP contains four tracks, each presenting Mello-Mar’s unique blend of storytelling and hard-hitting beats. “Life In Oakland” opens the project, painting a vivid picture of the city and the struggles faced by its residents. The second track, “Jump To The Funk,” brings a more upbeat vibe, showcasing Mello-Mar’s ability to switch between styles with ease.

“Say Goodbye To A.P.G.,” the EP’s title track, serves as a farewell to Mello-Mar’s group, A.P.G. Crew (Action Packed Gangsters), consisting of Marlon “M.C. Mello Mar” Blackwell, Jimmy “J-Cutt” Robinson, Cold Comin’ Up (Professor T & DJ Pause), MC Red & DJ Red Slice (The Red Connection). The final track, “Just Bein’ Real,” delivers a raw and honest narrative about staying true to oneself in a world full of challenges and temptations.

Produced and arranged by Allen Blackwell, with engineering by Ken Walden and executive production by Paula Blackwell, “Say Goodbye To A.P.G.” showcases Mello-Mar’s talent as both a solo artist and member of the A.P.G. Crew. Recorded at Bruce Tambling Sound in San Jose, CA, the EP serves as a testament to Mello-Mar’s contribution to the Oakland hip-hop scene and stands as a classic example of early ’90s West Coast rap.
