Description

“Don’t Jock Now” is the only studio album by Fairfield, California rapper Fat Kev, released on June 25, 1996, through SMG Solar Music Group and Fat Both Ways Records. With a blend of gangsta rap and West Coast hip-hop styles, this EP offers a glimpse into Fat Kev’s talent and unique voice in the mid-90s rap scene.

The album begins with a brief “Intro” before diving into the title track, “Don’t Jock Now,” featuring vocals from Simply Dre. “Stuck on Something” follows, with fellow Fairfield rapper Pizzo adding his distinct touch. “Stay Real” showcases Fat Kev’s commitment to authenticity, while “Fucked in the Game” features No Face Phantom, adding another layer of depth to the EP.

“Let’s Perk” delivers a catchy hook and memorable beat, leading into the “Outro” which features Kel, No Face Phantom, and Pizzo, tying the project together and leaving listeners wanting more.

“Don’t Jock Now” was recorded at A-1 Recordings, mixed at SMG Sound Studio, and mastered at One Little Indian Studios by Al Eaton. The EP’s executive producer is Fat Kev himself, while Larry Dee and Pizzo contribute as producers. The album’s graphic design and layout are handled by Phunky Phat Graph-X.

Though Fat Kev’s life was tragically cut short in 2008, his work on “Don’t Jock Now” serves as a testament to his artistic vision and his impact on the Fairfield, California hip-hop scene.
