Description

“Definitely Eatin’, Vol. 1” is the second studio album by Oakland, California-based rapper Pretty Black, also known as Verstyle. Released in 2005 under Smoke-A-Lot Records and Dope Game, this album showcases Pretty Black’s skillful rapping and storytelling abilities, reflecting the Gangsta and Thug Rap styles popular in the mid-2000s.

The 19-track album features an array of guest appearances from fellow West Coast hip-hop artists, such as Yukmouth, Bart (of 3X Krazy), Dru Down, Husalah, Fed-X, Lee Majors, and more. The album opens with an intro performed by Yukmouth, setting the tone for the project. Throughout the album, Pretty Black delivers a mix of gritty street tales, hustling anthems, and introspective tracks, highlighting his versatility as an artist.

Standout songs include “Def Eatin” featuring B.O.P., “Get Loose” with Bart, Dru Down, and Husalah, and “How We Scrap,” a collaboration with Bart, Husalah, Lee Majors, and Ten Till. “Definitely Eatin’, Vol. 1” is a testament to Pretty Black’s talent as a rapper and his contribution to the West Coast hip-hop scene.

Born in Chicago and moving to Oakland at the age of 18, Ayoola Matthew Odumuyiwa, better known as Pretty Black or Verstyle, was a member of Yukmouth’s Regime. Tragically, on May 30, 2008, at the age of 25, he was found shot to death in an apartment near Castlemont High School in Oakland, California.
