Description

“Beaner Go Home” is the debut studio album by the rap group Aztlan Nation, hailing from Berkeley, California. The album was released on December 10, 1993, by Chingazo Records, and features a unique blend of hip-hop and Latin music styles. Aztlan Nation, founded by Cricket (Esteban Zul) and Smiley (Motez Mostafa) in 1989, is known for their socially and politically inspired music, echoing the messages of contemporaries like Public Enemy, X-Clan, and N.W.A.

Throughout the album’s 13 tracks, Aztlan Nation promotes Chicano nationalism and “Brown Pride,” aiming to give a voice to the often marginalized Latin American segment of American society. The group’s mission is to create a presence for this underrepresented community within the hip-hop genre.

The album features a variety of collaborators, including Voo Doo Child, Bago, and Chuco, adding to the diverse sound and impactful message. With tracks like “Born to Play the Bad Guy,” “Serpent and Eagle,” and “Till the Border Crumbles,” Aztlan Nation delivers powerful lyrics and strong beats that capture the spirit of their message.

“Beaner Go Home” is not only a showcase of Aztlan Nation’s unique sound, but also a reflection of their dedication to social and political activism. As the group’s debut album, it serves as an introduction to their mission and a testament to the power of music as a tool for change.
