Description

“Ballad Of A Menace” is a 1990 maxi-single released by the Los Angeles-based rap group CPO (Capital Punishment Organization). The group, originally composed of Vincent Edwards (Lil’ Nation/Boss Hogg), Clarence Lars (DJ Train), Granville Moton (The Chip), and Daron Sapp (Young D), disbanded after their debut album. The maxi-single was released under Capitol Records and features the group’s signature gangsta style.

The vinyl comprises of a “Ballad Side” and a “Menace Side,” with each side offering various versions of two tracks. On the Ballad Side, the title track “Ballad Of A Menace” has a runtime of 4:33 and features compositions by Isaac Hayes, Lil’ Nation, and M.C. Ren. “Ren’s Rhythm” comes in at 3:30 and is composed by Lil’ Nation, M.C. Ren, The Chip, and Young D. A “Homicidal Theme Remix” of “Ballad Of A Menace” is also included on this side, with a runtime of 6:57.

On the Menace Side, listeners will find the “Radio Edit” versions of both “Ballad Of A Menace” and “Ren’s Rhythm,” with runtimes of 4:16 and 3:32 respectively.
