Description
“One Mo Nigga Ta Go – Dedicated To The Memory Of Eazy-E” is the only solo album by Yella, a renowned DJ, rapper, and record producer from Compton, California. Released on March 26, 1996, by Street Life Records, this album pays tribute to the late Eazy-E, a founding member of the influential gangsta rap group N.W.A.
Yella, born Antoine Carraby, began his career as part of the World Class Wreckin’ Cru alongside Dr. Dre before joining N.W.A. Despite being the least vocal member, Yella remained with the group the longest. His debut solo album features 19 tracks, including interludes that provide a cohesive flow throughout the album. Notable songs include “West Side Story,” “Streets Won’t Let Me Go,” “Neva Had A Chance,” and “4 Tha E.”
The album features collaborations with artists such as Dirty Red, Dresta, Kokane, Traci Nelson, and B.G. Knocc Out. Yella’s production skills are on full display, with a mix of hard-hitting beats and introspective tunes that explore life on the streets and the challenges faced by those in the gangsta rap scene.
With “One Mo Nigga Ta Go,” Yella honors the memory of Eazy-E while showcasing his talents as a solo artist. The album captures the raw energy and emotion of 90s hip-hop, making it a must-listen for fans of the genre.
In 2016, Yella was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of N.W.A.
